Modern Tudor Oasis

Located on a leafy street in Lawrence Park, the landscape of a Tudor cottage creatively combines outdoor spaces for recreation and entertaining for a young family. The large mid-town lot was organised into specific areas accommodating a variety of active uses including a generously sized pool, expansive lawn area and a full-size sport court. While the existing garage was transformed into a cedar pool cabana for parties during the shoulder months. The renovation of the dining room and kitchen of the house were simultaneously folded into the project’s scope to forge a stronger connection with the gardens. The back wall of the house was opened up to accommodate European doors and glazing to improve access to the newly conceived outdoor entertaining areas. An extensive composite-wood deck adjacent to the kitchen becomes an outdoor dining room with bbq, while a new large limestone patio spills into the garden for pool-side lounging. The custom California-style timber pergola and mature tree planting around the sunken hot-tub work together to create a luxurious and private oasis.
