Classical Contemporary

AOS set out to update the tired front, side and back-gardens of an elegant Edwardian in Rosedale by embracing a more contemporary composition while fostering emotional engagement throughout the site. The traditional front yard was re-imagined as a courtyard garden of natural stone where an oversized urn becomes the focal point surrounded by a comprehensive planting scheme of shade-loving perennials, shrubs and small trees. The updated structure of the side and back gardens maintains the balance and order of a classical garden but the expanded depth of the borders filled with highly textured shrubs and trees add a richness and expressive quality that re-invigorate these outdoor spaces.
